I loved you,February [monthly recap]
Looking back on my february
February has been a beautiful, deeply restorative month for me. Here are some of my highlights.
1 month on Substack
It’s officially been 1 month (the 27th) since I joined Substack, yet it feels so much longer. Substack came to me at an interesting gray-area of my life and it’s brought so much color. The community, the vast amount of writing talent and exposure to authors and literature has been a transformative experience for me.
When I look back on my first post, I didn’t know where it would lead, but I remember feeling confident, excited and ready. I seldom feel this way about new ventures and have a hard time sticking to things, but for some reason writing feels quite natural. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and the people I’ve gotten to meet here.
Wrote my first mini collection
A few weeks ago I wrote a short collection of valentines day poems, Passion from Venus. I printed it out and created a booklet. If you would’ve told me a month ago that I essentially printed my first book, especially one of poetry, I wouldn’t believe you. Creating it felt so natural and I’m proud of it. I’ve become to fascinated with poetry lately and it’s an excellent challenge for my brain.
Hibernation
The past few weeks have been quiet for me, almost isolating. Most of it self induced, some of it I have no control over. I’ve learned to sit in the silence and make something of it. I do not want to necessarily call it isolation, however - more like hibernation. I am finally putting myself first. I’m deeply embedded in my personal work, protective of my time and energy, and reflecting on the things and relationships that matter most to me. No distractions, no drama, no explanations. Simply peace, quiet and space to flourish. I feel close to stepping out of this hibernation but is it bad that I don’t miss the noise of it all?
Creativity, fun and learning
Being that I have so much time, I get to explore my interests even further. This month i’ve":
learned how to make dried flowers
studied SQL and data analytics
wrote more poems, lyrics and haikus in my notes app
learned a bit of piano/ music theory
created a fun little beat
played with a Kalimba for the first time and loved it
binged on resident evil 9
released my first podcast post and enjoyed it
Hopes for March
For Substack, I hope to continue posting writing pieces, potentially submit poetry to literary magazines or websites, and release more “podcast” episodes!
For personal, I may become a bit more social and meet new people IRL, continue on my career exploration, work on that drivers license (had to hold off due to the snow storms) and do more with music 🎵

i loved you, february,
see you soon 💕
Thanks for catching up with me. See you on the next post.
Yours truly,
a Gemini Venus ✌🏻

Hey Lissie, it’s amazing how fast young people can grow, isn’t it? I really envy them. I mean, looking back from this time last year to today, seeing that I haven’t really moved up at all, it honestly makes me feel a bit down.
Ahhh that's a lovely month's review... Did not know you are only a month here, I do not want to use "horse racing" metric for arts, but you performed perfectly well... And I love your tiny and less tiny snaps, poems, musings, rants, et al.
And if I can help your creativity, will be my honour. (gosh how can I "analog" help you over the ocean... 🤔)...
And as I create music too and am "not bad" in harmony, perhaps I can harmonise one your melody? That works over the ocean too...
